Change for the Better

Since I’ve changed the focus of my business and narrowed my target market, things have changed.
I recently changed my company name, my logo, my niche, and my focus. This is definitely not something I would recommend to everyone. Changing your company name is a major ordeal. People have come to know you, they associate your name with you, they know your website and your logo. So you take a big risk by moving all of that to something new.
But in my case, I knew it was time. My company was not producing the results I hoped for. Nor was it giving out the message that felt authentic to me and my goals. I was at a crossroads. I did a lot of research, asked a lot of experts, talked to a lot of colleagues, and felt the risk was worth it. It was time to change everything.
What a difference a change can make! I just got my website up recently, and already I am seeing results. By redoing my entire site and having it focus on my goal of providing uplifting administrative support, I feel the real “me” is shining through. I have a new attitude about the work I do. I have a new excitement about the people I will be supporting. It is authentic and I believe that shows to the people out there looking for solutions.
Coaches and consultants surround themselves with people who need help. That’s what they do, they help. My goal is to provide that same level of commitment and support to them. I think they give so much that there are times they have nothing left to give. I hope to be able to support them by being more than a virtual assistant – I hope to be their friend, their confidante, their sounding board. That’s what I’m about.
And that’s what A Balanced Alternative is about. It’s about helping. It’s about being supportive. It’s about passion in what you do. If you are a coach or consultant who wants to more efficiently use their time to grow their business, get in touch with me. I’d love to talk with you about the possibilities.

You are sooooooo right! When I first signed up to be a VA, I thought I’d get stuck plugging data into some spreadsheet, but I was willing to do whatever I needed to keep my family going. But then I took a deep breath and held out for something better suited to me and I am so glad I did! Within a week I landed a major client, and I now have new ones calling every week. I believe your passion comes out in your work, and people respond to that.
I would like to offer a new resource – it is a site I am developing with Michael Russer (author of “The Obosolete Employee, How Businesses Succeed Without Employees – And Love It” http://www.theobsoleteemployee.com). It is a totally free, no sign ups, nothing, 100% volunteer community site called VirtualOutsourcing.org. It is a place where anyone – business owners, VAs or people who want to be VAs, can go to learn and find tools, resources, groups, etc. People can also submit questions for experienced VAs to answer, or make suggestions of their own on valuable resources. We plan to have it launched within a week. Will you please be sure to check it out, and give some feedback? It will only help guide and strengthen our industry!
