[...] In the past week, I’ve noticed that there are a lot of virtual assistants who are not so happy with a recent product launch. One of the internet’s publicity experts is offering a course on publicity training for virtual assistants, assistants and interns and I know that her copy for this product has been the focus of many a blog entry.
I agree, Vickie. I have been in administrative support for over 26 years and owner of my own VA practice for over a year. I would be a fool to take on a client for whom I couldn't do the work. I know my strengths and my limitations and don't need administrative training from a so-called expert. She can't really be an expert after having made such an error in judgment.

Excellent points!

Several other VAs and I were discussing this very topic this morning.
I feel insulted by her insinuations. In my opinion, what she says about us as VAs is as if someone "hired" a doctor and then sent him or her to school to learn how to care for you as a patient.

Clients hire us for what we do, not for what we can't do. While it is smart business to learn new skills, we don't offer services we can't perform!

Virtually yours,

Well said, very well said.

It's almost as if she was *trying* to insult us. Really a shame. We (VAs as a group) need to unsubscribe and stop supporting this kind of mentality and keep educating like you've done here.
